An interesting educational training was held by Anatoliki – Organization for Local Development S.A. on Monday, December 19, 2022. The School of Agriculture of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) and the agricultural cooperation of Vassilika village participated in the organisation of the training, in which the concepts, practices and business models of climate-smart agriculture were introduced. The training material was developed in the frame of the AGREEN «Cross-Border Alliance for Climate-Smart and Green Agriculture in the Black Sea Basin» project which is financed by the BLACK SEA BASIN CBC EU PROGRAMME.
The educational training was supported by associate professor Dr. Panagiota Sergaki from the School of Agriculture of AUTh and hosted within the master course in Rural Economy and Development.
The training revolved around subjects such as:
– A climate-smart agriculture approach
– Value chains of climate-resilient agrifood products
– Sustainable farm management
– Financing climate-smart agricultural activities
– Sustainable agricultural goods marketing
– International trade and partnerships
The training of the post-graduate students was given by three young participants of the 5-days training that took place in Dobrich in Bulgaria earlier this year, in November. Veroniki Paradisopοulοu and Panos Papadopοulos, two post-graduate students from the School of Agriculture of AUTh, as well as Polychronis Chronopοulos, a young agronomist from the Agricultural Cooperative of Vasilika, all shared their valuable experiences from their own training, acting themselves as knowledge multipliers.
The training was supervised and assisted by project coordinator Vaso Papadopoulou and Natasa Rizopoulou from Anatoliki S.A., and Jenny Elemee from OECON Consultants Group.
Dr. Panagiota Sergaki was very enthusiastic in hosting the training, underlining the critical importance of the cooperation between local stakeholders and the university in promoting joint activities, practices of climate-smart agriculture and a large etcetera.
