On April 13, 2022, our Romanian partner – Ovidius University of Constanta (OUC) – celebrated ”Earth
Day – Our Daily Planet” at the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences.
The aim of the event was to draw attention and to raise the awareness towards the importance of the environment protection and healthy lifestyle for all of us.
In addition to the interesting presentations on current issues and challenges in the Climate-smart Agriculture (CSA), the event was also aimed at building the local Community of Practice within the AGREEN project. Regarding this, the Romanian Community of Practice coordinator, Prof. assoc. PhD Irina Moise highlighted the importance of creating the local community of practice among the producers and agri-entrepreneurs of the products obtained in a green and climate-smart agriculture, but also between the producers from the partner countries of this project. Thereby, in this community of practice they can more easily share with each other their beneficial experiences in obtaining quality and healthy products and at the same time they give to consumers informations about the local selling points.
A great interest was demonstrated on the presentation of the Romanian food products made by a local entrepreneur, mrs. Paula Vals, the founder of Moesis Piccolo Angelo Company, which is oriented towards the production of high quality food products from the heart of Dobrogea, some of the products being already as traditional ones.
In addition, the participants had the opportunity to learn from the representative of Norofertgroup about the soil protection using ecological products for the cultures, which protect the environment and life in the soil, for more healthy crops.
A very pleasant moment that should be mentioned is that young agri-entrepreneurs were also very active during this event and shared their observations and studies in the field of the CSA. Thus, a collection of agrarian customs and religious beliefs in the Dobrogea area and beyond, a study about implications upon the development of the livestock sector in Dobrogea, a topic on the improvement of soil properties by using ecological products for plants and soil, and also a study about the importance of the bees as an indicator of the environment quality were presented by the OUC’s students at this event.
Although the conference was held in a hybrid mode, the physical participation in the event was very numerous. Together with the students and professors from the Ovidius University, producers of traditional Romanian products and economical agents from the soil protection area participated in the forum.
